ANDERSON AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Emily is the current board treasurer for the local chamber while Anne has previously served as board president and treasurer, committee chair, board member, and event volunteer for projects and events of this dynamic group too numerous to list. Out firm sees this as an essential way of giving back to our community and help9ing our entire community to succeed together.
JDRF SOUTHWEST OHIO CHAPTER
With a daughter and a granddaughter with Type 1 Diabetes, supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation financially and as a volunteer and advocate is important to Anne. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research, providing exclusive focus and singular influence on the worldwide effort to end type 1 diabetes.
HAND IN HAND KENYA
Emily serves as the treasurer for this Cincinnati-based nonprofit working to alleviate poverty and raise awareness about issues facing vulnerable populations in Kenya. We partner with the Maisha Girls Safe House and provide funds to support victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking.
ACCOUNTING FOR KIDS
Team leader at Sherwood Elementary School of this dynamic program aimed at teaching financial literacy to young students.
CPAS IN THE CLASSROOM
Team leader, organizer of entire district, and presenter for this OSCPA program, which was a classroom game, ‘FETCH,’ covering budgeting and money management.
CRESCENT RIDGE ACADEMY
Zimmerman & Co CPAs is an annual sponsor of its annual gala, and Emily serves on the board as the treasurer and on several committees for an organization which offers an unparalleled Montessori experience for families and educators alike. A hidden gem in the greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region, Crescent Ridge Academy is guiding the future of education, fostering a unique and inclusive learning community for students, teachers and prospective teachers.
DET3 FOUNDATION
Helped to organize this organization who serves to support our troops in Afghanistan. We did all work to gain 501c3 status for this organization until recently, when DET3 was pulled under the umbrella of the Green Beret Foundation.
PARTNERS IN EDUCATION
Work with the Forest Hills School District to pull together businesses and schools to share knowledge and energies. For instance, our firm was a participant in the Nagel Middle School Career Day, showing these students what it means to be an accountant and encouraging them to give it a try through many interactive activities.
PUBLIC LIBRARY SPONSOR
Sponsored program and provided grand prize to Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County for summer reading program, encouraging youth to read and find excitement in books.
GREATER ANDERSON TOWNSHIP BETTERMENT COMMISSION
Anne served as Treasurer of this community group, appointed by the Trustees of the township. Originally set up to organize a bicentennial celebration for the township, this organization now works to provide a platform for others’ good ideas to be able to take off and come to life.
GREATER ANDERSON PROMOTES PEACE
Served as advisor and accountant to help this group get started and on its feet. GAPP provides community-building activities and programs that honor diversity, encourage understanding and promote inclusion.
THE FACIAL FOUNDATION
Did the accounting work for this unique organization to help support its mission to provide pro bono facial reconstructive surgery for victims of domestic violence, other violent crimes, accidents and injuries, until the organization recently lost its funding.
THE WISH TREE
Strong supporter which includes providing pro bono accounting work each year of this wonderful organization and Cincinnati tradition, as they strive to make Christmas a little bit kinder to those in need.
OHIO CITY INCORPORATED
Ohio City Inc. is the community development organization for the Cleveland neighborhood where Zimmerman and Company’s office is located. Maria formerly served as Treasurer of OCI, and our staff remain involved in the organization. Our firm sees volunteering with community development organizations as essential for helping growth of thriving, dynamic communities.
NEAR WEST RECREATION
We provide volunteer support, coaching, and sponsorship to Near West Recreation, which offers year-round recreation programming for children of all ages as well as select programs for adults. This league operates on a sliding-scale system, with need-based financial assistance available to participants living on Cleveland’s Near West side, making it accessible to all.
URBAN COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Urban Community School provides primarily low-income children from Cleveland’s Near West Side with an individualized, innovative and challenging education. Maria previously chaired the alumni committee, and both Maria and Steve volunteer in a variety of ways.
LIFE LEARNING CENTER
Our firm serves as the accountant for Life Learning Center, a place to provide hope for ‘at-risk’ individuals in our Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky regional community who are ready to commit to long term life change, and Maria serves on the finance committee.
BRITE WINTER
Our firm serves as the accountant to the board of Brite Winter, whose vision is to contribute to the Cleveland cultural landscape with a free/low cost and accessible events during underserved times of the year, like winter. Brite Winter marries fire, participatory art, food, music, and games to build community while helping us embrace the cold winter months.
FOUNDATION OF RECOVERY
Anne serves on the Board of Trustees and we provide accounting for this important organization whose mission is to provide funding and support to agencies and healthcare providers combating the opiate epidemic plaguing our country. By investing in harm reduction, education, and treatment, the foundation hopes to reduce the negative impact that chemical dependency has upon our community as a whole.
OHIO SOCIETY OF ADDICTION MEDICINE
Our firm provides accounting for this professional organization of addiction specialists and other providers focused on caring for patients with substance use disorder.
MAY DUGAN CENTER
Maria serves as the Treasurer on the board of directors of the May Dugan Center. The May Dugan Center is a lifeline for 10,000 individuals and families who need effective and meaningful programs to improve their lives and their communities in Cleveland, as well as the largest Food Pantry in Northeast Ohio’s six-county area. Zimmerman & Co sponsors May Dugan’s annual tree lighting ceremony and fundraiser.
BIKE CLEVELAND
Bike Cleveland is creating a region that is sustainable, connected, healthy, and vibrant by promoting bicycling and advocating for safe and equitable transportation. Our firm is a sponsor and hosts events to support this organization.
