• Welcome to the 2024 Tax Season

    The IRS has officially announced that the 2024 tax filing season will begin Monday, January 27th. Similar to last year, there were no significant tax law changes during 2024. Although as you are likely aware, with many of the provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 set to expire at the end of 2025 we could see some changes coming for 2026. We will keep you apprised as best we can, but please reach out during 2025 and early 2026 if you have questions about changes that may affect you.

    As a reminder, many tax related forms have become wholly digital. This means that you may not receive all of your tax documents through your standard mail process. You may need to login to your online investment account to retrieve your consolidated year-end Form 1099 or onto your mortgage lender website to retrieve your annual Mortgage Interest Statement, Form 1098.

    Upload: Our client portal, accessible through our website, is a SECURE and convenient way to upload, store, and access all your tax records from anywhere. If you are interested, but you haven’t used the portal in the past, please call or email us to set up your portal account.

    In Person: You can drop off your tax documents (along with your signed engagement letter and completed questionnaire) Monday-Thursday from 9am–5pm OR 24-hours a day in our lockbox located at the back entrance to the building. We will email a confirmation that we’ve received your documents.     Knowledge Based Authentication Update:

    Due to an increased focus on security and protection of client tax data, all signers must verify their identities using Knowledge Based Authentication before electronically signing the IRS efile Signature Authorization (IRS Form 8879). Our partner, ShareFile, which hosts our client portal and electronic signature service, uses IDology, a third party service to help perform this verification service. The use of your personal information for these purposes will have no effect on your credit report, credit score, or reporting to lenders. It is important to note that Zimmerman & Co CPAs does not control or enter the information used to verify your identity. To opt out, or to use a different method to sign your tax documents, or if you have any other questions, please contact our office.
